Our good canine citizens

This weekend was all about being good little Vizslas.  Saturday, Karma took part in a Meet the Breed event at Bass Pro Shops here in Denver.  Bass Pro does a Fall Hunting Classic every year and this is the second year our local Vizsla club, The Vizsla Club of Colorado, was invited to participate.  Karma was quite the star, how that girl loves an audience with treats!  The little kids were timid at first, but Karmie would turn on her wiggle and convince them to give her a treat.  She had an absolute ball!  We worked the shift with Steffie (Karma’s favorite person in the whole world) and Karma’s little brother Gauge showed up to wiggle with her too.  Andrew & Cindy, who we hunted with last Thanksgiving, were there to share the table with us too, so it was fun to tell actual hunting stories when people would come up and ask.  After grabbing lunch with Zach and Clare, we took all the red kids on a little romp.  With our V’s sufficiently exhausted we met back up with Zach and Clare later that night for dinner and a movie…pretty perfect Saturday!

Sunday, it was Indy’s turn to shine.  Jenny hauled him up to Brighton early Sunday morning so that he could attempt his Canine Good Citizen test.  But before the test, our friend Kelli Kujawa was showing her Afghans in the B Match.  The B match was the real reason we went, as Kelli’s daughter Lexi wants to handle a Vizsla in Juniors at Vizsla Nationals, which will be here in Denver this September.  The match was a perfect opportunity to see how Indy would handle for Lexi, and we think they looked great!  Definitely check out the photo below of Lexi nailing Indy’s free-stack!

After Best in Match, it was FINALLY time for the CGC test.  The CGC test looks for a couple things.  It’s actually pretty easy to pass if your dog knows basic discipline.  The requirements for the test can be found here.  The only part we were worried Indy wouldn’t do is stay calm if Jenny left him in the ring and went out of site for 3 whole minutes.  (Indy is famously vocal about such things.  The funniest was on a very cold hunting trip in Kansas.  We got out of the car, got situated as quickly as possible, and started hunting almost immediately to try and warm up.  While we were gearing up, Indy found a spot to “do his business.”  Well, he wasn’t exactly finished when we started walking away, and he started roo-roo-ing and barking at the top of his lungs!  “Hey guys, I’m not finished!!  Wait for me!!!”  It was too funny.  Moral of the story — Indy does NOT like to be left behind.)  But Indy managed to keep it together and passed his Canine Good Citizen test!  Now he is known as: Ch Boulder’s Indy-Go RN MH CGC.  Hmm, wonder what letters he will add next!

Below are some pictures from the weekend, enjoy!
