I haven’t blogged in a LONG time. So much has happened. Last time I posted I think The Spiderlings weren’t even 6 months old yet! And now here we are with Boujee having puppies. So what has happened since? Let’s see: right after that last post I went to Greece on an incredible vacation with friends. I came back with a Mediterranean glow up and new outlook on life. About a month later, I met my now husband! We’ve been through a lot in the last (almost) 4 years! Notably, we’ve lost two dogs, Smoke (his Lab) and Halo, both in 2024. We also got married that year, and for our wedding, brought home a Labrador puppy, Whiskey! She was our ring bearer and beyond adorable.

We’ve been down to a 3 dog household since we lost Halo ini August of 2024, and had planned to breed Boujee last year, but when she came in season, we had a big vacation to Croatia planned, so the plans were put off until she came in season this June. The goal for this breeding was to increase drive and hunt. Boujee is an incredible bird dog, and we didn’t want to lose any of that since our last breeding was focused more on conformation (and as always, temperament.) Rather we wanted to build up the hunt and drive even more. We bred her to a gorgeous local dog, Madsen. Like Boujee he is also a specialty show winner and a Junior Hunter, but he has the distinction of being a Field Champion, which in turn makes him a Dual Champion.

Everything about this breeding felt right. He has sired over a dozen litters which gave us a lot of health and temperament information. Everyone I talked to absolutely loves their Madsen kid, but also said they are A LOT…so I’m hoping we will check the box on drive! And then there is all the stuff about good luck, good Karma, and good vibes:
*During the breeding we were swarmed by Lady Bugs. These little symbols of luck were eveywhere.
*For the X-Ray they saw 7 puppies! Lucky #7!
*They were born on 8/26/26. One of my friends said 26=2+6=8. So 8-8-8 and extremely good karma number. Not to mention the first puppy popped out at 8:08 am and the last at 11:11am! Two more lucky numbers!
*I had picked out names and corresponding collar colors before they were born. But the way it worked out with the boy girl ratio, I had the 7 colors of the rainbow! Had we had any other ratio of boy/girls, this wouldn’t have worked out!
Copper – Orange
The Mountain Resorts – Madsen/boujee
Apache – Red
Vail – Purple
Banff – Blue
Aspen – Pink
Butters – Yellow
Boat – Green
I’m not really superstitious, but that all seems like too much to ignore and I really do feel so blessed with this litter. It’s my biggest litter to date; in fact Boujee had as many puppies as Halo & Cheeky put together! Today was Day 18 and they are just amazing puppies! They were all born at a healthy size and seem to be hitting all their major milestones early. They completed Early Neurological Stimulation and Early Introduction to Scent. Eyes all open before 2 weeks, and ears all open before 3. We even introduced milk in their bowl tonight and they gladly started lapping up the liquid. I usually start introducing some food right at 3 weeks, but we will start them a few days early since I can already see their little teeth are about to bust through.
I’ve been pretty good about posting to my instagram stories, so if you want more frequent puppy spam, follow along @kish5280. For now, here is my favorite photo from tonight — just mass chaos trying milk from the bowl!
