Agility Day

Nothing was going to bring us down today — it was FINALLY the Vizsla Club of America National Agility Trial!  The only thing that makes agility better is getting to compete with your friends, and *SO* many of our friends and Vizsla family were here!  Jenny also organized a t-shirt for the event, so there were about 65 exhibitors and guests wearing matching shirts for the occasion.  It was pretty cool.

Our first event of the day was Open FAST.  (Need a refresher on Agility Events?  Click here for our explanation.)  The send was pretty tough for us — three jumps off-set from each other.  Usually, we need something a little more motivating (like a tunnel.)  Sure enough, Karma decided that staying by Mommy was a much better idea than leaving to go do the jumps.  We did get to work on some weaves and contacts, so it wasn’t a total loss.

After FAST, we did Time to Beat.  It was a fun, flow-y course and Karma zipped right along.  In fact, not only did she Q, but she finished with the second fastest time!  Her zippy time earned her 7th T2B leg and 9 points!  Woo-hoo!  We are just about half-way to her T2B title 🙂

Standard was next and after a 4 month dry spell, we FINALLY picked up an MX qualify.  HOORAY!  16 MACH points too 🙂  Really, really, really excited about that one!  Karma finished in 5th place, just out of the ribbons.  She was beaten by Abbie (the #1 Vizsla), our role model Chili Pepper, and TWO of her Aunts — Aunt Lexi and and Aunt Tokaji.  We were in good company 🙂

The last event of the day was jumpers and we were SO close.  Unfortunately, Jenny didn’t give Karma enough time to collect between a jump and the weaves, and Karma took the entry at the second pole.  Bummer, a double Q at Nationals would have been awesome….maybe next year?!

Our friends all did great and a group of us went out to a local pizza place to celebrate.  It was so great to see everyone, it’s just hard to believe it’s over.  Sadly, several people are leaving tomorrow — wish everyone was staying all week!

Tomorrow is a double-double Obedience and Rally trial, so hopefully we will have some goals to cross of the list tomorrow!  Fingers crossed 🙂
