It was a bit of a commitment to get Karma up to CSU every other week for 4 weeks, but we did it! She received her last vaccine today and we got to meet with the investigator, Dr. Thamm.
Dr. Thamm shared that the trial is about 25% enrolled, with Colorado having the most dogs through. The read out for the trial is 5 years, so it will be a long time waiting. We also won’t find out if Karma was in the placebo or a control arm, as it would reveal some bias. BUT, we do know that she did a great service to the breed, to dogs, and possibly someday to humans too.
We feel so blessed that Karma made it to 10 years old and was completely cancer-free and eligible for this trial. Here’s to hoping Vizslas can start living a little bit longer and with a lot less cancer thanks to dogs like Karma who enrolled, and will continue to enroll, in this trial!
