Happy Halloween! As a reminder for the day — CAREFULLY select your halloween candy and make sure it is kept out of the dogs’ reach! Be especially careful to check the ingredient list for Xylitol. This ingredient is found in many sugar-free candies and even just a little bit is SUPER toxic to dogs — not even worth it to have candy with that ingredient in your home. At least in our humble opinion 🙂
Also — chocolate is a no-no and be wary of candies with peanuts/peanut butter which will smell super yummy and make it that much more tempting to your pups.
And if your dogs freak out when the doorbell rings, it might not be worth doing the treak-or-treat thing. Nothing worse than a stressed out dog, especially if it can be avoided. If you don’t want to be known as those neighbors, you might want to leave a bowl of candy on the porch with a sign to help themselves to a piece or two.
