Quarantine variance

This quarantine thing has been an adventure hasn’t it? Colorado finally shifted to “safer at home” on Monday, but Denver County extended “stay at home” until May 8. However, in the Governor’s press conference about the difference between safer and stay at home, he mentioned that Eagle County (where Vail is located) is the first county to have a state approved variance to Safer at Home.

So what’s a variance? Well per the state website: The state’s local variance process is intended to allow communities that are currently not experiencing a high rate of COVID-19 transmission to tailor social distancing policies to local conditions, in order to promote community wellness and economic stability for families in Eagle County.

Going to the Eagle county page to find the public health order, it has may updates, but for us, this was the most important one:

⭐️ Limits travel into or around Eagle County to local residents only. “Local residents” are defined as persons who own, maintain, or ive in a home or residence in Eagle County.⭐️

Hot diggity, we are locals! While Marc obviously has patients to take care of in Denver, Jenny could easily got to our Vail condo and work from there. So Wednesday morning, she packed up the girls and went to Vail. After 45 days at home with no off-leash areas for the dogs in walking distance, all three Vizslas are pretty darn chubby. we’ve cut back their food, but they are still not their svelte-selves AND they are hangry.

Spent our first lunch break down at the park getting in some swim time!

The last three days we’ve logged several walks to the local park getting in lots of running and swimming. The lake currently has a savvy goose couple that Cheeky spent the last two days trying to sneak up on. She was unsuccessful in all attempts, but you could almost see the wheels turning in her head as she tried to figure it out!

Today, we drove back down to Denver to spend the weekend with Marc, but before we did that, we got in a big hike. The trail was still pretty snow packed, so it made for a great workout. The girls were so happy, and we can’t wait to head back up next week.
