Babysitting & Birdwork

It was WINDY out, as demonstrated by the Vizsla ears flapping in the wind. L – R: Indy, Gauge, Karma, and Halo.

After our whirlwind trip to Garden City last weekend, we picked up Karma’s half-brother Gauge.  Gauge’s parents are off getting married and our wedding gift to them was babysitting the goober for a week! 🙂

We wanted to get in a little bird work while we had Gaugie over — mostly to help wear them out, but also to get Baby Halo some more bird contact.  Today, however, was NOT a good day for it.  The conditions really deteriorated down South, and we were faced with 30+ mph winds.  Not good for anyone, basically once the bird flushed, the wind carried it into the next county.  This made for good “no bird” work…ie.  if the gunner’s miss, let’s heel off and not chase.  Gauge and Halo are not really at this level yet, and Karma is working on it, so it was good practice.

The dogs got in some good running and Halo and Gauge got to point a chase a bit…life was good.  As we were leaving, we saw one of our favorite dogs — Karma & Gauge’s Daddy!  We stole Tok away for a few kisses and pictures — Karma definitely got some of her Daddy’s looks!
