Agility & Spa Weekend

Just the title of this post makes us happy — two of Jenny’s favorite things!  After visiting with Jenny’s parents over Mother’s Day, Gramma Carol was anxious for us to schedule another visit.  It just so happened that there was an agility trial coming up in June, so we sent in our entry form and anxiously waited for this weekend.  Initially, we planned on everybody going, but since Charles wasn’t going to be able to make it, Marc opted to stay home with Indy, Halo, and Schmav so Jenny could have a girls weekend with Karma.  Isn’t he the best?!

Gramma was going to make sure Karma was treated like an absolute princess this weekend too.  She treated us to a room at the Crowne Plaza in Albuquerque which has a stifling pet fee ($75 pet/night!) but it was so NICE.  Karma and Jenny showed up on Friday night to find we were on the ground level, off the court yard, so we could just walk straight out of our room to the restaurant patio.  Karma was welcome to join, which made it even better!  There was live music, food being cooked right off the grill, and veggies being harvested from their planters in the courtyard…pretty awesome!  Karma was a hit.  We lost track of how many people commented on how cute, friendly, and well behaved is, and the waiter even brought her over a bowl of water 🙂  Gramma was also super naughty and was sharing her filet with Karma…bite for Gramma, bite for Karma.  Jenny *tried* to put a stop to it, but was promptly told Grandparents get to spoil their grandchildren as much as they want.  Karma certainly wasn’t complaining!

Saturday morning, we were up pretty early for the agility trial.  Karma had a great Standard run, getting a Q, 15 MACH points, and her 7th MX leg!  We are getting close!  We were hoping for a QQ, but Karma tweaked something on her first jump in jumpers, and then started limping — EEK!  Jenny pulled her off the course to get her checked out.  Luckily, it must have just been a weird spasm or something, because she was totally fine and even took a jump as Jenny was trying to get her out of the ring.

With agility done for the day, we took Karma back to the hotel to enjoy a bully stick and a lifetime movie…and Jenny and Carol headed for the spa!  Remember that part about Carol loving to spoil Karma?  She is even worse with Jenny.  We showed up to the spa to find out Jenny had a manicure, pedicure, and 90 minute massage scheduled!! YAY!  There was also time to enjoy the steam room, sauna, mineral pool, and shower…ahhh…Jenny totally blissed out.

For dinner Saturday night, we hit the patio again with Karma, and then went back to the room for a movie and dessert from room service 🙂  Perfect night!

Sunday, we headed back to Expo New Mexico for two more runs…today was a good jumpers day, but we lost our Standard Q for a questionable dog walk contact.  Karma’s jumpers Q was good for 9 MACH points, getting Karma 26 points this weekend!

After our runs, we headed over to a little coffee shop where Karma was again welcome to join us on the patio 🙂  After our coffee, we went back to the hotel, packed up the cars, and checked out.  Carol was headed back to Santa Fe for work, so we were able to stop and have lunch together before we headed back to Denver.  The cafe Carol took us too was AWESOME!  All farm to table, with a patio for Karma, and *amazing* baked goods for dessert.  Jenny had a really yummy salad topped with tons of veggies and grilled chicken, and then we split Strawberry Rhubarb pie and a Meyer Lemon pastry to make up for the salad 🙂  Karma was equally happy…the owners daughter brought her out some bacon and spent a few minutes feeding Karma small bites in exchange for kisses and hugs!  So cute.

Hopefully, we will be spoiled by Gramma again soon 😉  Enjoy a few pictures from our weekend!
