Our little pumpkins are ready to set out on their new adventures!

Today was the big day!  We’ve been prepping for this day for what seems like forever, but it’s hard to believe it actually arrived.  We prepped last night by giving everyone a bath and a final pedicure, and then we tucked them into bed and Jenny bawled!  Happy to say getting to see how happy their new homes were today, there were no tears shed, but last night was tough!

Kate, Farrah, and Bosley post bath.  Cutest puppies ever.

We also worked hard to send home the puppies with everything to get their families off to a great start!  Their take home bags included a puppy book which had weekly information from birth to today, training tips, information on the early neurological stimulation we did, vaccine and health test info, and ideas for socialization in the coming weeks.  Their bags also were filled with kong toys, a stuffed pheasant toy, some food to transition, treats, a baby blanket that smelled like their littermates and Halo, and their go-home collars which are all Halloween themed!

The puppy books!

First, we did conformation evaluations.  We hosted a video conference and had our co-breeder/Halo’s breeder Kathy online, along with fellow breeders, Sarah, Paul, and Linda.  Our friend Steven Ray who owns Karma’s nephew Zeke also linked in.  It was great and actually worked really well.  We knew we would keep whichever girl was the conformation pick, and so when Farrah was garnered with that title, we were so excited to finally figure out who our puppy was!  That meant Kate would go to Byron and Catherine who wanted a hunting/agility dog.  This was perfect since she did so well at the Puppy Party and scored the highest on prey-drive at the temperament test!

Our new puppy!  Farrah was our keeper, now Cheeky!

After conformation evals, we had lunch which was hosted by Tad & Randy (Kai’s owners.)  While we were sitting at lunch, Tad was listening to Bo talk about all his hopes for Louie — the name he already picked out in case Bosley was his.  See, Tad had the right to either a puppy or a stud fee, and since he has spent so much time with this litter from whelp, to puppy sitting when we were working, we weren’t sure if he was going to be able to pass on a puppy.  But, Bo has come to our house, to all the evals, and is already an awesome Vizsla owner to his girl, Jade.  Tad knew Bo would be an excellent home and decided that if Bo would co-own with him, he would give up his pick to Bo.  Ironically, this is how we got Karma too!  So with everyone knowing who their puppy was, after lunch we headed outside to evaluate the puppies on birds.  No surprise, Kate was our star, but Farrah and Bosley did great too and hit a few points.

Farrah/Cheeky on point!

Then it was inside to sign contracts and take pictures — introducing Maggie, Louie, and our puppy, Cheeky!  We can’t wait to watch these three grow up!
