Birthday gifts

Jenny is really good at treating herself to gifts — and since this was a big birthday (3-Oh!) she picked out more than a few items to help ease the pain of entering a new decade.

One of her favorite finds were these adorable Vizsla notecards!  They are designed by an artist who shared her life with a wonderful — and curious — Vizsla girl.  Here is her story:

It all began with a dog, Enza, and her 14 year old girl.

The drawings started with funny notes left on the kitchen table or taped to the fridge for family, showing goofy things that my dog had done during the day or what sort of critters she had found in the woods on her daily walk. The drawings soon grew to annual holiday cards, birthday cards, and invitations, most of which included my dog in some fashion.

When Enza was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, my urge to draw became something more. I cut back my hours at work to stay at home with her. I started drawing to occupy myself, but soon realized it might help support our little family. I opened my Etsy shop that spring and have been selling prints and original drawings ever since.

Enza passed away in the fall of 2010 at the age of 14 and a half. The drawings are one of the many ways I remember her, and I hope to be able to make many more.

I currently live in Maine with my husband where we spend our time plotting our next big adventure.
