Today, I felt about as proud of Cheeky as the day she earned her NAVHDA Natural Ability Prize 1 perfect score. There is something to be said for having an absolutely perfect day when you have to be perfect on all fronts to qualify. It takes the mind games to another level and really steps up the pride when you and your dog are both able to execute at the top of your game. At least, it does for me!
A couple weeks ago we certified in the Odor Recognition Test enabling us to enter the Nose Work 1 Trial today. This would be our debut in the venue and at this particular site. To earn your NW1 title, you have to qualify in all four searches: vehicle, interior, exterior, and containers. They give placements in each search, a “pronounced” award which means they really like how you and your dog worked together, and then they do overall placements.
Cheeky ended up with:
-Pronounced award for Vehicle Search
-Pronounced award for Interior Search
-2nd place in Vehicle Search
-1st place in Exterior Search
And out of the 37 dogs competing she went Overall 1st place. SO FREAKING PROUD of my little wonder dog. Next up — her Mommy Dog title!!
