Cheeky takes on Lubbock!

We had a big weekend in Texas!! Most importantly, Lindsay Tita Adams and I had a much needed girls weekend and I got to see my NM and TX Scent Work friends that I haven’t seen in a loooooooong time! It was so good to catch up with and cheer for everyone.

Cheeky managed 5 Master Elite legs across Handler Discrimination, Interior, and Buried. I was super excited that every time she Q’d we also placed. First, it tells me I wasn’t second guessing her — which also led to some NQ’s on light indications — but part of the process as we dust off the maternity cobwebs on our teamwork. Secondly, there were MANY badass teams there!! Our Master classes were in the 15-18 range and to place in their company left me a little awestruck of my girl.

Boujee had a big weekend too. She made it the whole weekend in a hotel and crated at the event with zero accidents. She’s been solidly potty trained at home, but taking it on the road and out of the routine is a good test! She also spent the WHOLE weekend in a soft crate…something I didn’t attempt with her mother until she was like 2. Proud of the little one! She was also lucky to meet about 30 new people and several super friendly dogs.

Shoutout to Heart of the Plains Kennel Club and trial chair, Jolynn Payne and her committee, for another fantastic event in Lubbock! Amazing volunteers, special touches, yummy food trucks, and the judges made really fun & challenging searches for us! Seeing Caroline Kobe Oldham on the judging panel made the decision to drive 8+ hours easy, and it was great to run under the Gallants for the first time. Thank you all for your hard work!
