Hunting pheasant in Kansas

When our local Vizsla Club, The Vizsla Club of Colorado, organized a fall hunting trip, we just had to be a part of it.  This would be the first time Karma got to be on wild birds and Indy is a great instructor for the little one.  We loaded up all our blaze gear and the pups and headed to Goodland, Kansas.

The land we had access to was really great.  We saw tons of pheasants (roosters and hens) which is a big improvement from what we ran into last year.  It seemed the hens always popped up in front of Marc, so unfortunately, he didn’t get a rooster this trip, but everyone else in the group was able to get at least one pheasant, and several even limited out!

Saturday night, we enjoyed dinner with our friends at the local country club — thank you Shad and Penny for having us!  And then went back to the hotel and our very tired bird dogs 🙂

Sunday, we went out for the morning and headed back to Denver after lunch.  The dogs slept the entire way, came in the house, ate their dinner, drank their water, and went right to bed!  Tuckered out Vizslas — wasn’t sure it could be done!
