Indy is a Community Canine

The summer just isn’t slowing down for us.  Last weekend, Jenny’s brother Creed got married here in Denver.  We followed up the wedding weekend with a few days in Breck with all of her siblings.  It was a really nice retreat and the dogs got to come too!  We hiked a bunch of trails, ate some S’mores, and took some family photos.  If only it could have lasted longer 🙁

We hadn’t said goodbye to our last bit of family more than 2 hours before Halo decided to come into season.  Whoa.  Totally dodged a bullet on that one!  That would have made our mountain get-a-way extra exciting.  We decided we better ship Indy off today, but before he left, Jenny decided to make it an Indy day.

One of the things Indy always enjoys is obedience work.  Sadly, we had to retire him earlier this year because the jumps required in the Open classes are a little bit too hard on the old man.  And while Indy never caught the agility bug like Karma, he misses getting to partake in the teamwork required for obedience.  It’s actually really cute to see how his eyes light up when we take out his obedience leash and collar 🙂

Our friend Mary told us about a fun match up at the Adams County Fairgrounds, and they were offering the Advanced Canine Good Citizen Award which is called the Community Canine or CGCA.  Funny enough — Indy earned his CGC title at this same match 3 years ago!

So we headed up to do the CGCA, and Indy did great!!  Jenny was a little worried about a few of the exercises, but Indy was a little rockstar 🙂  He passed with flying colors and we even got a ribbon!

After the test we headed back home and hung out with our boy for a few hours before taking him down to a friend’s for a few weeks.  We have already received videos of him running and snuggling with their Vizslas, so we don’t think he is missing us too much, but boy, do we miss him!
