Karma works on her bird dog skills

We absolutely LOVE that our local V club, The Vizsla Club of Colorado, puts on so many training events for honing those bird dog skills.  Karma attended the “Training for JH and Beyond” clinic they did in January, and it was one of three times she was on birds before the Spring hunt test season.  Our little girl, surprised us by picking up three JH legs easily this Spring, only not qualifying when both she and her brace-mate went birdless.

There aren’t anymore tests this Spring, but we wanted to let Karma get some more practice (as we mentioned before she’s only been on birds THREE times!) so we enrolled her in The Vizsla Club of Colorado’s Dual Event Day.  This was a marathon event that introduced us to NAVHDA, the North American Versitile Hunting Dog Association.  There was a NAVHDA Senior Judge there that worked with all the dogs on the pheasant track, which is tested for in their test.  There was also a second edition of the “Training for JH and Beyond” clinic that we rotated through.

The pheasant track was pretty cool.  First, it’s very applicable for our hunting trips in South Dakota, and secondly, it’s a different skill than hunting.  We were proud parents when Karma stuck that little nose to the ground and followed the scent all the way up to the pheasant, which she pointed!

In the JH and Beyond clinic, Karma worked on her steadiness and pointing.  Karma is such an intense pointer, she crinkles up her forehead and you can really tell she is concentrating so hard!  It’s super cute.  She also continues to always do her three-legged-point, which makes her just so darn beautiful to watch.

Can you tell how much we love this puppy? 🙂
