Meet Halo!

Yep, that’s right — we have a new addition here at 5280 Vizslas.  Halo is the product of a bad case of puppyitis Marc had at the 2011 Vizsla Club of America National.  So, we decided to sit down and really think about what we wanted in our next Vizsla.  And since Jenny got to pick out Karma, it was Marc’s turn to pick out a puppy.  We looked through ads in the National catalog, looked at puppies on the ground, past Vizsla News editions, pictures on facebook and entries at shows.  Marc (and Jenny) fell in love with Ice and Wick.  These are two stunning females who produce beautifully.  They also happen to belong to Kathy Rust (Kizmar Vizslas) and Paul Hussa (Pagliacci Vizslas.)  Kathy and Paul breed almost every litter together and are quite the Vizsla family.

And over a year later, here we are, holding our new baby, Halo!  We hadn’t intended on getting a puppy any time soon, but last Sunday we received a call from Kathy saying that the Orange girl in her litter was special.  The Dam (Mom) is Bailey (a daughter of our favorite, Ice!) a Grand Champion, Rally Advanced, and Companion Dog Excellent title holder.  The sire is Havoc (out of the amazing Q) who was a light line breeding back to some of Kathy’s sutff.  Havoc himself is a Grand Champion, Junior Hunter, Open Agility and Open Agility Jumper title holder.  This breeding should produce beautiful, very high drive puppies — and from what we’ve seen so far, that’s exactly what happened.

Halo is nuts for birds, is already quite the mover, and is just naughty enough to make her fun!  Jenny was able to witness all this yesterday and today as she spent a little less than 24 hours at the Kizmar residence in Fargo, North Dakota.  Kathy and her husband Brian have the most beautiful home, and their dogs live THE life.  They have acres upon acres to run on, the most impressive dog room ever, and they each have their own spot on the couch.  It was too cool.  Their dog room gives Jenny unrealistic expectations — there was tons of room, soft mats on the floor, an elevated bathtub (so you don’t have to bend over/kill your knees to bathe the dogs!), individual dog doors to outdoor runs — perfect for girls in season…should I go on? It was amazing.  Then in the yard they have a coop with their very own homing pigeons, so our little girl has been exposed to birds for her entire existence!  It is literally Vizsla paradise 🙂

Halo’s Mom, Bailey also came out today with her owner, Sarah.  Sarah is keeping the green collar boy, now known as Dempsey.  It was fun to hang out with her, give Momma Bailey some love, and get a 3 generation picture of Ice, Bailey, and Halo!  It’s below — one of our favorite photos.

We should wrap this up with an explanation of her name.  Halo’s registered name needed to be a shot that included Bailey’s Irish Creme (in honor of Momma Bailey.)  We chose the shot called 7 Deadly Sins and decided to call her Halo to put the positive spin on the name.  Marc really liked the play and balance of it and Jenny thinks we can come up with some very crafty ads along this theme 🙂
