Steamboat Springs

Believe it or not, in the 16 years that Jenny has lived in Colorado, she has never made it to Steamboat Springs! When a work trip was necessary, Jenny invited along her friend Lindsay. The thought was that while Jenny worked, Lindsay could exercise Cheeky & Marmalade and then we could do some hikes altogether after work too!

Luckily, Steamboat is a pretty dog friendly town. They have an AWESOME in town dog park where we headed right after checking into the hotel. Luckily the Holiday Inn accepts dogs AND has a restaurant onsite! It made life super easy. So yes, we checked into the hotel, and then headed over to the town dog park. Check out the scenery:

Cheeky and Marmalade posing on a large log — you can tell they had been running hard!
There was even a river that ran through the park — you bet we had a hard time keeping the girls out of it!

Monday night, we hit up Table 79 Foodbar. It was super yummy, and they had a patio off a parking lot, so we were able to park the girls, leave the back hatch up and keep an eye on them in their crate while we ate. Table 79 has a ton of tapas and EVERYTHING was good. Can’t go wrong if you head there next time you are in Steamboat.

Then Tuesday was Jenny’s work day. Picked up catering and had Lindsay drop Jenny off at the hospital. After drop off, Lindsay took the girls back to the in town dog park since it was so great yesterday. Just as Jenny texted Lindsay to be picked up after work, a storm starting blowing in, ruining our plans for an evening hike. Instead, we picked up a bottle of wine and had dinner at the hotel. If you find yourself at Rex’s American Bar & Grill, do yourself a favor and order the truffle mushroom Mac n Cheese. Seriously, the best Mac n Cheese ever!

Cheeky enjoying the lazy night in.

Wednesday, we’d start the long drive home, but first we were invited to stop by our friend Joan’s house for breakfast and a run on her expansive property. It was a real treat! Joan makes the world’s best scrambled eggs, so if you find yourself invited to her table, take her up on the offer! And Cheeks and Marmee burned off so much steam on her property that they didn’t make a single sound on the whole drive back home. A fabulous couple days away and first impression of Steamboat. Thankful to have friends like Lindsay and Joan to share the experience!

Cheeky & Marmalade at Joan’s! They loved the wide open space!
