Birthday Agility

Jenny’s birthday is on Tuesday, so to celebrate, her Mom came out for the weekend.  The puppies just love it when their Gramma Carol visits — she will take each of them for a walk INDIVIDUALLY so they can each spend as much time stalking squirrels and marking trees as they please 🙂

This was also the weekend our performance club was hosting its agility trial.  So for the second weekend in a row, we were signed up for some heavy lifting.  This started on Friday night when we had to unload all the equipment, set up the gates, put out tables, etc.  Luckily, we were home by 9:30, and off to bed for an EARLY wake up on Saturday morning.

First on the agenda Saturday morning was coffee, and once our Starbucks was in hand we set off on the 1.5 hour drive to Fort Collins.  Thankfully, we had been able to set up our crate space on Friday night, so we weren’t rushing around too much before the rings started.  Karma was up first in Standard, and other than a missed dog walk contact, she had a pretty flawless run.  Really cool, and really fast! 🙂  After that it was over to the FAST ring to run Karma AND Gunner.  Heather was at a soccer game with her kiddos, so Jenny was able to run her sweet nephew…and we got a Q!  That was good for GG’s 2nd OF leg, just one to go!

Next up was Jumpers with Weaves where Karma had a super fast run and picked up 10 MACH points along with a Q!  Yeah!  She finished in 6th or 7th place overall…definitely getting faster 🙂  Our last run of the day was T2B where Karma Q’d, picked up 8 MACH points, AND finished her T2B title!  She finished her T2B title with the minimum number of Q’s required (15) which is a testament to her speedy runs 🙂

Gramma Carol did an awesome job with Mungo and while they didn’t Q, they had some moments of sheer brilliance!  Mungo has never done more than 6 weave poles, and he nailed 12 of them in his T2B run!  Super cool.

Sunday morning was another early day, but it started off right with a Q and 17 MACH points in Standard!  Woo-hoo!  Love it when Karma nails all those contacts 🙂  We also would have had a QQ, but a late front cross in the Jumpers ring put Jenny right in front of the weaves and she made it impossible for Karma to get the entry.  However, Carol and Mungo had a beautiful jumpers run with just one tiny refusal…good enough for their first Jumpers Qualify!!  SO SO SO exciting!

The final chore of the weekend was tearing down all the rings and equipment, but thankfully, all our friends and fellow club members stuck around and made it a quick job.  Huge thanks to our friends Ginger, Deb, Katherine & Dale, and Heather for making it such a fun and flawless weekend!
