Gunner gets his CD

Gunner after his CD!

We are just making quick work of the 2014 goal list Jenny and Heather put together.  Last weekend, Halo finished her JH title to cross off a goal, and today Heather and GG picked up their third CD leg to wrap up Gunner’s first title this year!  Yay!!

Karma did agility this weekend and was able to lay down an awesome standard run, good for 22 MACH points and a 4th place ribbon!  In jumpers, she just had one bar to keep her from a QQ performance.  Dang.  But 22 points is awesome, so no complaints here!

Just North of Denver, Halo went to a dog show with Sarah because Marc was on call and Jenny was obviously down south running Karma in agility.  Kinda wish we had just stayed home.  We had a very heavy handed judge.  We weren’t there, but our friends said the judge turned the class dogs into puddles.  Out of the 5 class bitches 4 of them shied away from her. 🙁  She was a very heavy smoker and her hands reeked — I would shy away too if she tried to touch my face with those hands!  Anyway, Halo’s exam started out with the judge screaming at Sarah for using bait, then (especially with no bait to distract her from the smell,) Halo didn’t like the cigarette hands.  To top it all off, she finished Halo’s exam by grabbing her by the flank and LIFTING her off the ground!  OMG!!  For some reason she still gave Halo Select Bitch even though Halo definitely didn’t hold still and shied away from the judge.

Today, Jenny skipped agility because there was a winter storm watch in Denver and driving home through snow for 2 hours didn’t sound fun.  So we loaded up Halo and headed to the show — totally should have stayed in bed!  Halo wouldn’t let the judge examine her today, so she and Sarah made a quick exit and were out of contention.  Frustrating, the only reason we have been showing is to keep her in the show groove before Nationals.  Yesterday is one of those days where we feel like we took 5 steps backwards — poor Halo!  Definitely adding yesterday’s judge to our “Do not show to” list!

Anyway, back to Gunner!  Heather has been BUSY.  Work and kids — seriously don’t know how she does it all.  This also means it’s been super hard to find a weekend to pin down Gunner’s 3rd CD leg.  Back in January, he picked up his first two, and obedience trials tend to be few and far between.  Luckily, Heather was free today to come down and try for CD #3 and RAE #8.  They were genius in the ring, as always, and passed in all three trips into the ring to finish Gunner’s Companion Dog title and close in on that RAE title — just 2 legs to go!  Up next — VIZSLA NATIONALS!!!  Watch out Cali — we are headed your way next!

Here is the updated goal list —- also bonus points for Halo who made the top 20 list through March!  She is currently the #17 Vizsla and the Nation’s #6 Vizsla bitch! 🙂
