Roadtrip to Tulsa

Jenny remembered to put on a green shirt this morning, Starbucks in the cupholder, and the first song on the radio when Jenny turned on the car was Willie Nelson’s, “On the Road Again.”  Tulsa, we are on the way for the American Kennel Club’s National Championship! (NAC)

We stopped for gas in Colby — “The Oasis on the Plains” — and we also discovered that Jenny’s navigation also has a wine glass icon to indicate the location of wineries.  That might just come in handy on the way home! 😉

Who needs navigation to wine?  Gotcha covered!  See the palm trees?  That’s why they call Colby, “The Oasis!”

As soon as we got to Tulsa we ran over to the fairgrounds and got all our paperwork picked up.  You get all this cool stuff that makes you feel so official — numbers like in a race to pin to your shirt, a bag, a shirt, and a leash tag.  It’s all super exciting.  Then we headed over to our favorite vendor, Paco Collars, to get Karma a new slip lead for the occasion.  It’s pink and blingy, and perfect!  Finally, we set up the crate area — Emily & Layla came out yesterday, so most of the decorating was already complete.  This year we decorated our stall in a girly-girl theme.  We have butterflies, flowers, rainbows, and pink and purple everything for our happy-go-lucky girls!  These two have the best temperaments and we often joke that everything is all “sunshine and rainbows” for Karma and Layla, so we thought we would stick with the theme!  Finally touch were our crate tags from Helen Phillips, one of our Colorado Agility friends.

After checking in there, we headed to the Ambassador Hotel Tulsa, a Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel.  All of Jenny’s travel points certainly payoff!  We were upgraded to a gorgeous suite, and they even had a bed for Karma and raised dog bowls with treats and bottled water for her to enjoy.  The concierge gave us directions to a park in walking distance full of Redbuds — PINK trees!  It’s like a sign!  🙂

After the jaunt to the park, Jenny had dinner at The Chalkboard, the hotel’s restaurant, and made sure to order a filet so she could give Karma a celebratory treat before our big weekend!  So, so excited for tomorrow to get here!

And the filet we split (Karma passed on the polenta and carrots)

What awaits us tomorrow and why we are too excited to sleep!
