Escaping the rain

Biblical floods.  Seriously.  That is really what they are saying on the news.  Also 500 year flood.  Fun fact…the doesn’t actually mean it happens once every 500 or 100 years, it means the probability of that level of damage is 1/500 years (or 1/100.)  That was explained on our local news stations regularly.

Thankfully, we were safe from the flood, as were several of our friends and family.  The Koprowskis (who own Karma’s bro Zeke and half-bro Newt) live right in the epicenter of major damage, but luckily their primary residence and modes of transportation were spared.  Our agility/obedience coach/trainer, Sarah, made it out of her house yesterday morning, but couldn’t get back home.  She ended up staying with us and Jenny had a good time planning a vegan menu all weekend.

Enough about the rain.  (But thank you for all the concerned text/facebook messages and phone calls.)  This weekend, Karma was able to do agility again!  Yesterday, Jenny had to work, so Sarah offered to handle Karma for us.  They obviously ran really well because Jenny heard all about it today.  “Do you own that really fast female Vizsla Sarah Stremming was running yesterday?”  “Sarah and Karma looked so good!”  “Is Karma always that fast?”  Nice of everyone to take notice 🙂  Karma has become so confident recently…very independent with proper (and on-time!) cues.  Our last trial was amazing…and her speed even garnered her two placements in the super competitive 20” class.  Sarah continued the speedy trend by handling Karma to a Q and 9 MACH points in her jumpers class.  Woo-hoo!

Today was SO close in Jumpers and SO far in FAST and Standard!  With Karma’s new speed, Jenny can’t make any mistakes…when that happens, Karma knocks a bar.  Which is what happened to our jumpers run…one stinkin bar away from a smokin time.  Dang.  Standard and FAST were laughable with some really bad (and late!) handling cues from Jenny.  We did pull it together for a T2B Q and 7 T2B points.  That takes Karma to 10 legs — just 5 to go!

Our goal was 26 MACH points this weekend and sadly we fell really short at 9.  Jenny has a baby shower tomorrow and pulled Karma several weeks ago.  Luckily, starting the weekend of September 28, there is a trial EVERY weekend until November.  5 weekends of agility — can’t wait!
