Girls weekend in SLC!

What a fun weekend!  We actually competed in three different venues in two different states!  The first half of labor day was spent doing rally and conformation in Cheyenne and then the last half Jenny and Karma headed to Salt Lake City for agility!  This trip to Salt Lake was so fun and the culmination of much planning.  Jenny had to work out in Utah and having an agility trial close by was icing on the cake!  Luckily our friends Krista and Alan were headed out there to vacation for a week so they were able to transport some of our precious cargo 🙂  Our trainer Sarah was also headed out with Idgie so we were guaranteed to have a great time!

Jenny wanted to find a really nice hotel for the little vacation with Karma, and the Hotel Monaco fit the bill!  This hotel was awesome…super pet friendly and very luxurious.  Upon check in, there were two cute towel-dogs on our bed, homemade dog treats, stainless bowls for food/water, and dog beds!  There was even a cute little handwritten note for Idgie and Karma saying they hoped their stay was “pawfect.”  So cute.  Nice benefits for the humans too…candy bar, fruity water, and complimentary wine hour and massages…ahhhhhhh!  We might just be trialing in Utah more often!

After checking in Saturday night, we pretty much went straight to bed for an early ring time on Sunday.  First up was standard and Karma was completely clean and dropped the LAST bar.  So close!  Our T2B run was clean and we finished within 30% of MCT so we walked away with 7 points.  To finish the day, Karma not only qualified in JWW with 12 MACH points, but she also picked up her very first placement in the Master 20” class…a fourth place!  Yeah!

After the trial, we had enough time to shower before dinner at Sage’s Cafe.  This place was awesome.  Sarah is vegan, and this restaurant is an entirely vegetarian menu.  Our waitress was super accommodating to all of Jenny’s allergies and took it on as a challenge.  The allergen-free pad thai was AMAZING!  And then Sarah, Krista, and Jenny split a pretty awesome carrot currant spice cake 🙂

Sunday Karma was again just one bar away from a QQ.  The amazing thing about this run was that Karma’s time was 42.72 and the winner finished at 42.99!  So exciting to see how much faster we are getting as a team 🙂  In jumpers Karma had another smoking run and pulled a Q with 11 MACH points and another 4th place!

After the trial, Sarah had to head out of town, but Krista and Alan invited us to hang out again.  To kill some time, Jenny took Karma around SLC taking in the sights and dog parks.  Then we had another yummy dinner to end our girls weekend on a perfect note!

Jenny’s goal for the weekend was 26 MACH points and we came in pretty close at 23!  Big congrats to Krista on two QQs with Roka and Yeti’s first T2B leg 🙂
